How We Can Help

Fundraising Ideas

E-mail – A – Thon

  • An easy way to raise money for Column of Hope is to participate in an E-mail – A – Thon. You will write an e-mail that has a message from Column of Hope. You then will personalize the e-mail by explaining why Column of Hope is important to you.
  • You will then ask the recipient to support Column of Hope by clicking a link that says ŇHow You Can Help.Ó That link will lead them to a page on the Column of Hope website that explains different ways the recipient can support Column of Hope.
  • In the e-mail you will also include a sentence that encourages the recipient to send the e-mail onto their contacts.
  • This will help spread the word about Column of Hope as well as drum up support.

eBay Giving Works

  • This program works by auctioning off something through eBay. If you donate 100% of the profits to Column of Hope, eBay will donate the whole insertion fee. Use this link to find out more: eBay Giving Works
  • To make this fundraiser as successful as possible, you can inform your friends, family and co-workers that you have posted a Giving Works listing. This will increase interest in you listing and help the item to sell for the highest possible price.
  • To spread the word on Column of Hope you can include printed materials with your item when you send it to the winner.

Shop through iGive.com. iGive explains how their site works:

  • The Mall at iGive.com makes it easy for members to make their everyday Internet shopping count for something more. Each time an iGive.com member makes a purchase from the Mall, up to 26% of the purchase price is donated to the shopper’s favorite cause.
  • There are over 400 popular merchants available in the Mall at iGive.com, with new stores added continually. The Mall offers books, CDs, fashion, electronics, toys, healthcare products, office supplies and more. From AbeBooks.com to Zones.com and everything in between, shoppers are sure to find exactly what they’re looking for. There is never an extra cost to the member or the cause.
  • Shopping through iGive.com is safe and secure. We respect our members' privacy and never sell any personal information. Our members enjoy exceptional prices and special first-time buyer and free shipping offers, exclusive to iGive.com.
  • After a member makes a purchase, his or her cause receives a check from iGive.com for 100% of the donation percentage listed adjacent to each merchant on the site. Members can use the Web site to track the funds they’ve raised, or to see how much their cause has received overall. It's all part of what makes iGive.com the best way yet to shop on the Web, not to mention the best way to show you care.
  • In order for Column of Hope to receive the donation you have to shop through the iGive Mall. You do this by clicking the link and then choosing the store you would like to shop from.
  • iGive also offers a free shopping window. Whenever you enter a site that will donate a portion of your purchase to Column of Hope, the shopping window will automatically hook you up to iGive.
